Keep a character looking the same

One of the hardest parts of any visual story is making a character look like the same person from the first shot to the last. Voysey works to keep that consistent for you, and there are a few things you can do to help it.

Casting sets the reference

When you cast a character, the look you choose becomes their reference. From then on, when Voysey generates new shots, angles, and takes, it works to keep the same face and overall look, so your lead does not turn into a different person from scene to scene.

What you can do to help

  • Cast carefully. A clear, well lit casting choice gives Voysey a strong reference to hold to. See "Casting a character."
  • Add good references. When you attach reference images in the chat, include a couple of clean shots from different angles. The better the reference, the steadier the result.
  • Name the features that must stay. If a particular detail matters, such as a scar, a hairstyle, or eye color, mention it so it is easy to hold on to.
Good to know

While Voysey produces shots you may see a stage labeled IDENTITY in its activity. That is Voysey keeping the character consistent. It happens as part of the work, so there is no switch for you to flip.

If a character still drifts in tricky shots, such as extreme close ups, see "A character looks different across shots" in Troubleshooting.
