Keep locations consistent

Characters & assets·3 min read·Updated 2 months ago

Locations drift the way characters do. The kitchen in scene 2 becomes a different kitchen in scene 9 unless something ties them together. Voysey handles locations the same way it handles characters and wardrobe: save a location as a reference once, and Voysey reuses it every time the scene calls for it.

Save a location as a reference

  1. Generate or upload a reference image of the location.
  2. Open the Reference panel and choose New reference.
  3. Pick Location as the kind.
  4. Name it (e.g. "Sarah's kitchen") and attach the reference.

How Voysey reuses it

Every time a scene is set in that location, the film pipeline binds to the reference. The images and video generated for those shots use the reference so the space stays consistent, with the same walls, same window, same doorway on the left.

Location sheets are automatic

For any film production, Voysey also builds location sheets as part of the entity registry. These are canonical references that get pinned across every shot set in that location. This happens even if you did not manually create a reference. Voysey extracts locations from the script and generates the references. Your manual references override the auto-generated ones.

Anchor with real photos when you can

If you have a real photo of the space you want, upload it as the reference reference. Voysey will match its style but the geometry stays true, which is helpful for a location that has to feel specific.
