Add overlays to a shot

The Overlays tab lets you add text, lower-thirds, title cards, callouts, and other graphic elements on top of a shot. Overlays live on their own layer, so you can adjust or remove them without regenerating the underlying image or video.

Types of overlays
- Title card: full-frame title text.
- Lower-third: a name-and-role strip at the bottom of the frame.
- Callout: an arrow or box pointing to something in the shot.
- Free text: text placed anywhere on the shot.
- Chapter marker: for chapter navigation in longer works.
Positioning
Drag any overlay to place it. Snap guides help you align to the safe area or to other overlays. Overlays can enter and exit. Set an in animation and an out animation from the timing controls.
Non-destructive
Overlays never touch the source shot. Delete them, restyle them, or move them any time. The underlying image or video is unaffected.
Overlays render into the final export
When you render the film, overlays are composited into the video. They are not a separate track you have to remember to include.
