A character looks different across shots
Troubleshooting·5 min read·Updated 4 months ago
If a character starts to look like a slightly different person from shot to shot, that is consistency drift. It shows up most in close ups, where small differences are easier to see. Here is how to settle it down.
Steps to try
- Check your casting. The look you cast is the reference Voysey holds to. If the cast image is unclear or unusual, recast with a cleaner option first. See "Casting a character."
- Add clearer references. In the chat, attach a couple of clean images of the character, including one at close range, so there is more for Voysey to hold to.
- Regenerate the shot. With a strong cast and good references in place, generate the shot again.
- Edit the take prompt. Name the key features that should stay the same, such as a hairstyle or eye color, then create a fresh take.
Why close ups are harder
A close up shows far more facial detail, so any small difference is more visible. A clear casting choice and strong references give the steadiest result. For background, see "Keep a character looking the same."
